A recent study spearheaded by the QBI COVID-19 Research Group provides valuable insight into the host cell protein interaction partners of the SARS-CoV-2 proteins1. The comprehensive analysis finds a total of 332 high confidence protein interactions between virus proteins and human proteins. Among these, the authors identify 67 proteins that can be targeted pharmacologically by 69 existing drugs. In addition, the study finds ways in which SARS-CoV-2 coerces the host cell machinery for virus propagation that are shared with known viruses, thus showing possible gateways for common treatment options.cov2interactome
